Providing Craniosacral Therapy & Myofascial Release Therapy

Core Physical Therapy has specialists at both our West Des Moines and Adel locations that are experts in Craniosacral therapy and Myofascial Release therapy. Both of these treatment techniques use a hands-on approach, using soft touch and gentle manual interventions to help treat both chronic and acute pain.

Myofascial Release Therapy

This type of therapy helps improve the function of fascia, a system that surrounds bones, muscles, nerves, organs and blood vessels, which can become damaged over time. Whether the fascia is damaged by trauma or has gradually worn down over time, it can become tense and cause restrictions that limit flexibility and reduce strength.

Your physical therapist will use a series of hands-on techniques designed to help detect restrictions that can’t be seen on X-Rays, CAT scans, MRIs and myelograms. Once the restrictions are detected, the physical therapist can apply sustained pressure gently to loosen or release tension in the fascia.

Craniosacral Therapy

Put simply, Craniosacral therapy can help improve your overall health by relieving pain, releasing tension and reducing the impacts of chronic pain throughout the body. The craniosacral system consists of the membranes and fluid that surround and protect the brain and spinal cord. Through skillful palpation throughout the body, our physical therapists will identify and treat restrictions in the head, spine, and tailbone that will assist in your recovery. Each patient responds to Craniosacral therapy differently, and your therapist will work with you to develop a program to help you find long-term success.

These interventions improve the body’s ability to self-correct and can help relieve a wide range of acute conditions, as well as chronic pain. Craniosacral therapy can help improve a variety of conditions, including:
