You’ll keep your body happy and healthy with the extra steps.

3. Pick a New Hobby

There are hobbies the summer has to offer that simply can’t be matched in any other season in the Midwest. Find an activity that can get your heart pumping in more ways than one. Activities that have fantastic cardiovascular benefits include swimming, biking and running.

4. Join a Group

Having a group with similar interests and health goals can help you to stay focused on your health goals this summer. There are kayaking clubs, running groups and bicycling groups. They will provide accountability to a healthy lifestyle. Being a part of groups like this is fantastic for your mental health as well. With Vitamin D and endorphins, nothing can get in your way this summer.

5. Don’t Say No to H20

It’s summer and that means it’s time to drink up. You’re staying active or increasing your activity level and that means you need to stay hydrated. You should be drinking your body weight in .5 ounces. So if you weigh 200 pounds, you should be drinking 100 ounces of water each day. In the summer, you are sweating more and your body is going to require even more water. Add some of that fresh summer fruit to the water to ramp up the flavor!
