BREATHING RE-EDUCATION
WHY DO I NEED BREATHING SUPPORT?
Dysfunctional breathing, or a breathing pattern that deviates from optimal is a concerning issue in our modern world. Studies have found that 50% or more of the general population exhibits some form of dysfunctional breathing. Breathing challenges can result in a range of issues, including breathlessness, anxiety, heart and lung diseases, increased vulnerability to infections, and more. Breathing re-education stands out as a vital approach to addressing this worrisome trend. By addressing the root causes of dysfunctional breathing we can formulate an individualized approach that empowers our patients to regain control of their breath, promoting better health and overall wellness.
WHAT DOES A BREATHING APPOINTMENT LOOK LIKE?
Sessions are always performed in a private treatment area where a skilled physical therapist assesses what aspects of breathing re-education would benefit you most. Most sessions start with testing different aspects of breathing and performing different interventions to improve results. Interventions may include guided breathing, stretching, manual therapy, and craniosacral therapy depending on what is appropriate for your case. We will also include at home exercises to continue your progress at home.
