Our Specialty

We are experts in Craniosacral Therapy and Myofascial Release therapy, and we use them in almost every therapy session. These hands-on therapy techniques utilize soft touch and gentle manual interventions to help treat both chronic and acute pain.

Myofascial Release Therapy has been the reason many of our patients choose Core Physical Therapy. We utilize a series of hands-on techniques that help detect restrictions that won’t be seen on X-rays, CAT scans, or MRIs. Myofascial Release Therapy aims to improve the function of fascia, a system that surrounds bones, muscles, nerves, organs, and blood vessels, that can become damaged overtime. When damaged, this can manifest itself in a whole host of symptoms.

Some patients find immediate relief, like a man in his twenties who could finally start exercising again after having stopped with severe knee pain. While others, like a woman suffering from chronic elbow pain, are amazed at how much their pain significantly decreases over our time together.

We are proud to be the premier provider of Craniosacral Therapy in central Iowa because this specific therapy has helped patients find relief when they haven’t elsewhere. This specific therapy technique taps into the craniosacral system, a system in your body that consists of membranes and fluid that surround and protect the brain and spinal cord. Through skillful palpation throughout the body, our physical therapists are able to identify and treat restrictions in the head, spine, and tailbone that will assist in your recovery.

One patient was able to almost completely eliminate her migraine medication with Craniosacral Therapy. Another eliminated the debilitating pain in the backs of his legs with a few sessions. Craniosacral Therapy works.

“Excellent place for all types of physical therapy and general aches, pains and soreness. It is hard to describe but Core PT is just different and AWESOME! It is my first call! They listen and discover the real source of your issues and immediately begin steps to ease your pain! As someone who has played sports for most of my 49 years on this earth I have a lot of nagging aches and pains that I used to chalk up to previous abuse to my body (that I would never change to be without pain today). However, the therapists at Core PT find those issues and make life a lot less physically painful!”

“Core Physical Therapy is like no other physical therapy I had experienced in the past. I was used to a ‘gym-like setting’ with weightlifting equipment which practically had me in tears every time. Myofascial is a different approach and has been working wonders for me. Thank you both for making such a huge difference in the health and well-being of others!”

“A good friend of mine recommended Core Physical Therapy to me when my sciatic pain flared up. I’m so thankful I went! Mary Beth was such a great help to me. She took time to evaluate me, listened to my concerns and suggested exercises specific to me and my needs. The myofascial work she did was amazing and beneficial with the strengthening exercises she recommended for my specific needs. I highly recommend Core for anyone with pain!”
