Alex grew up in Cedar Falls, Iowa. After graduating from Cedar Falls High School in 2013, she attended Iowa State University where she graduated Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology and Health in 2017. She then attended Des Moines University where she earned her Doctor of Physical Therapy degree in 2020. She specializes in guiding women through the journey of pregnancy, postpartum recovery, and early infant care. During pregnancy, she works with individuals to manage discomfort, prevent injury, and prepare their body for childbirth.

After delivery, she offers tailored postpartum corrective exercise plans designed to restore core strength, pelvic health, and overall function- helping patients to return to their daily activities with comfort. She also has a love for treating pediatric patients and supporting them both pre-and post- tongue and/or lip tie revisions. She works closely with families, lactation consultants, and pediatric dentists to optimize outcomes for children experiencing tethered oral tissues. In addition to her treatment of oral motor dysfunction, she provides therapeutic services for infants diagnosed with torticollis and plagiocephaly. She integrates hands-on therapy, developmental support, and family education to improve neck range of motion, head symmetry, and overall motor development. Alex strives to provide the best care for moms and their babies through this transitional period in their lives.

Alex and her husband recently built a house in Waukee and have a 10- month-old daughter, Aspen.

Meet Alex

Laura and Alex are incredible physical therapists! They take the time to listen and understand what’s going on overall, beyond the specific ailment or issue. I appreciate their expertise and professionalism. From the first visit, I knew they would do everything they could to help restore my body. Highly recommend!

I highly recommend Core Physical Therapy. Alex Spencer is a rock star!! Due to a back injury, I could barely bend at the waist on my first visit. Thanks to Alex, I have seen much improvement after a few visits. She is very knowledgeable, caring and explains everything well. Each visit I’m also provided with new stretches to try at home or as I’m traveling for work.
